  • Validating Whole Slide Imaging Systems for Diagnostic Purposes in Digital Pathology

    Summary: To develop principles to assist pathologists in properly validating digital imaging systems.

  • CAP/IASLC/AMP Lung Cancer Biomarkers

    Summary: To determine proper test selection and techniques for non-small cell lung cancer biomarker tests as related to appropriate therapies for lung cancer patients. This project is a joint collaboration with the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) and the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP).

    Status: Complete Recommendations

  • CAP/ASCCP Lower Anogenital Squamous Terminology (LAST) Standardization Project

    Summary: To harmonize terminology across the various lower anogenital tract sites with evidence-based knowledge on HPV related lesions. This project is a joint collaboration with American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP).

    Status: CAP-ASCCP Public Comment Period open January 23 – February 12, 2012

  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Assay Analytic Validation Principles

    Summary: To address the procedures that laboratories should perform to analytically validate IHC tests prior to implementation.

    Status: Research and Review

  • CAP/ASH Algorithm for Initial Work-up of Acute Leukemia

    Summary: To define the recommended testing for proper diagnosis and prognosis determination. This project is a joint collaboration with the American Society of Hematology (ASH).

  • ASCP/CAP/AMP Molecular Markers for the Evaluation of Colorectal Cancer

    Summary: To primarily address laboratory test performance, but also include clinical applications, international aspects, genetics community and public health perspective. This project is a joint collaboration with American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and Association of Molecular Pathology (AMP).

  • Diagnostic Error Reduction in Surgical Pathology through Targeted Case Review

    Summary: To address diagnostic errors with an intent to improve accuracy resulting in better patient care.

    Status: Determine Scope and Form Workgroup

  • Bone Marrow Synoptic Reporting for Hematologic Neoplasms

    Summary: To address the highly variable reporting methodologies to provide clear, appropriate reporting for patient safety, treatment, and prognosis.

    Status: Determine Scope and Form Workgroup

  • Labeling Requirements for Anatomic Pathology

    Summary: To address the non-systematic methods of labeling slides in order to reduce errors.

    Status: Determine Scope and Form Workgroup

  • ASCO/CAP Guideline Recommendations for HER2 Testing in Breast Cancer – Update to 2007 Edition

    Summary: To review the current literature for a possible revision to the 2007 guidelines. . This project is a joint collaboration with the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
