Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
CAP STS is collaborating with the CDC in the standardization, encoding, and computerization of surgical pathology reports including the conversion of the CAP eCC into a new XML distribution format. The collaborative agreement extends the CAP eCC model into the cancer registry world, which includes the National Program for Cancer Registries (NPCR) at the CDC; the Surveillance, Epidemiology, Evaluation & Results (SEER) program of the National Cancer Institute (NCI); Cancer Care Ontario (CCO); and the Canadian Partnership against Cancer (CPAC).

Gesaworld
CAP STS and Gesaworld collaborate together to assist clients who seek to develop semantically interoperable health IT with the use of standards. Gesaworld is an international consulting group specializing in health and social sectors improvement. Their clients include organizations whose people seek to better the health and well-being of others. Gesaworld offers organizational and work process improvements, as well as the optimization of services rendered by clients.

Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise International
The CAP is the Laboratory Domain Sponsoring Organization. The CAP STS Diagnostic Intelligence and Health Information Technology (DIHIT) team and CAP members will represent the CAP in the IHE collaboration. IHE, a global initiative, brings together healthcare information technology stakeholders to implement standards for communicating patient information efficiently, and works with other domains such as Cardiology, Radiology, and the Laboratory and IT Infrastructure.

Spanish Society of Health Informatics

SEIS
CAP STS and the Spanish Society of Health Informatics collaborate and exchange information to promote the use of standards in health informatics.

Surescripts   AHA   CDC

Surescripts, American Hospital Association, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
The College of American Pathologists (CAP), Surescripts, and the American Hospital Association (AHA) have been awarded a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) grant to connect hospital laboratories with public health agencies to electronically transmit data on reportable laboratory results. The three organizations will collaborate to build a “Lab Interoperability Cooperative (LIC).” The CAP’s role (CAP STS) will be two-fold: 1) helping to recruit hospital laboratories to participate; and 2) aiding hospital laboratories with data standardization. Patient Registry Item Specifications and Metadata

University of South Florida
CAP STS is collaborating with the University of South Florida under a grant agreement with the National Institutes of Health and the National Library of Medicine for its project Patient Registry Item Specifications and Metadata (PRISM) to develop standardized questions for patient registries across many different rare diseases. The standardized questions will be used for developing new patient registries and revising existing ones.
