The New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center is phasing out the traditional Assistant Laboratory Director role under its new Certificate of Qualification (CQ) structure.
What changed: Individuals responsible for the technical and scientific supervision of a specific laboratory testing category will now need a Technical Director Certificate of Qualification (CQ) for that category.

The Technical Director CQ is separate from the Laboratory Director CQ, although one individual may hold both.

A Laboratory Director CQ alone will no longer qualify an individual to supervise specific testing categories.
