Bekra Yorke, MD, FCAP
Dr. Yorke is nominated for her exceptional contributions to CAP advocacy efforts and her dedication to advancing our organizational priorities as she has strengthened the voice of pathologists nationwide.
As vice chair of the Federal and State Affairs Committee (FSAC), Dr. Yorke is widely respected by colleagues, policymakers, and stakeholders for her strategic insight, steady leadership, and consistent focus on advancing CAP advocacy goals. She has helped align federal and state advocacy strategies, reinforcing the coordination, persistence, and grassroots engagement required for effective advocacy—ensuring that state-level initiatives reflect national priorities while remaining responsive to local realities.
She works closely with state pathology society leaders, legislators, regulators, and other stakeholders so that the interests of pathology—and the patients pathologists serve—are clearly represented and thoughtfully considered. She was instrumental in securing Texas legislation—led by the CAP and the Texas Society of Pathologists—to improve insurers’ network adequacy and strengthen access to pathologists, radiologists, anesthesiologists, and emergency medicine.
Dr. Yorke’s effectiveness stems not only from her policy expertise but also from her ability to build trust and sustain productive relationships. Colleagues value her thoughtful, strategic perspective—particularly when rapid response is required. She remains deeply engaged, monitors developments, anticipates emerging issues, and provides guidance that helps the CAP respond rather than react.
Through her strategic insight, collaborative approach, and sustained commitment, Dr. Yorke has made a profound and lasting contribution to our advocacy mission and has distinguished herself as an exceptional leader and champion for the CAP.
