The CAP joined laboratory and physician organizations on October 20 for the Clinical Laboratory Coalition’s RESULTS Act Hill Day, meeting with congressional offices to advocate for passage of the Reforming and Enhancing Sustainable Updates to Laboratory Testing Services (RESULTS) Act (S. 2761/H.R. 5269) before the end of the year.
By the numbers: Coalition representatives met with 15 congressional offices to build support and cosponsorship for the bipartisan legislation.
The ask: The coalition urged lawmakers to cosponsor the RESULTS Act and prioritize passing the legislation in a year-end package.
The impact: The RESULTS Act would reform how Medicare sets Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule rates, improve the data used to calculate laboratory payments, reduce reporting burden, and provide greater payment stability. The legislation would also prevent scheduled cuts of up to 15% in 2027 and 2028 and limit annual reductions to 5% beginning in 2029.
The bottom line: Coalition members emphasized that long-term reform is needed to protect patient access to diagnostic testing and give laboratories greater stability to invest in services and innovation.
