State Pathology Societies
To strengthen the profession of pathology nationwide, we partner with state pathology societies to bolster advocacy efforts at the state and federal levels on issues including:
- Insurance network adequacy
- Billing for pathology services
- Protecting scope of practice
- Medicare, Medicaid, and private sector payment
- Laboratory benefit management programs
PathNET Advocacy Network
PathNET is the CAP’s grassroots advocacy network, a resource for CAP members to connect with their elected officials at the federal and state level. Through PathNET, pathologists can build relationships with their legislators and assist the CAP in achieving our legislative goals.
PathPAC
PathPAC is the political action committee established by the CAP in 1992 and dedicated solely to representing pathologists.
PathPAC supports and represents the interests of pathologists on Capitol Hill through political and financial means. PathPAC strives to increase the political awareness of our members through political analysis, education, and helping our members build relationships with members of Congress.

PathPACThe Political Education Fund
Federal law requires that all contributions to this fund be in the form of corporate dollars. PathPAC can receive corporate contributions to the Political Education Fund (PEF) from anyone. PathPAC may not accept any personal, individual contributions designated to the PEF.
PathNETHost a Laboratory Tour
When Members of Congress are making legislative decisions that impact pathologists, it is crucial that they have an understanding of what pathologists do and how changes to the system will impact their ability to deliver quality care and accurate diagnoses to their patients.
Laboratory tours provide a unique, hands-on opportunity to familiarize Members of Congress with the important role pathologists play in health care.
