2023 CAP Resident of the Year Award

Established in 2010, the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Resident of the Year Award recognizes a Junior Member who has made outstanding contributions to the specialty of pathology, pathologists, laboratory medicine, and/or the public.

Hansini Laharwani, MD, FCAP

The College of American Pathologists presents Hansini Laharwani, MD, FCAP, with the 2023 CAP Resident of the Year Award to recognize her commitment to pathology.

Dr. Laharwani’s drive and dedication to the specialty have been evident from the start. During her pathology residency, she became an USCAP ambassador and co-authored a grossing book, as well as wrote an inspirational blog post for Match22 and PathMatch22. She has been involved with the CAP for the last three years, serving as a member of the Residents Forum Executive Committee (RFEC). She currently serves on the Council on Membership and Professional Development and Economic Affairs Committee.

Dr. Laharwani is very involved with residents, always encouraging them to participate as much as possible in RFEC and committee meetings. Her leadership skills have blossomed during her work with the CAP and will continue to grow and evolve over the years as she engages in organized medicine.

An exceptional mentor and colleague to medical students and residents, Dr. Laharwani’s uplifting spirit brings out the best in whoever she works with.

Dr. Laharwani is a fellow in gynecologic and breast pathology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
