LAS VEGAS (October 5, 2026) —The College of American Pathologists (CAP) has partnered with IQVIA—a leading global provider of clinical research services, commercial insights, and health care intelligence to the life sciences and health sectors—to modernize its Pathologists Quality Registry (PQR) with a new platform designed to expand the registry’s capabilities for pathologists and their practices.

“The Pathologists Quality Registry has long supported pathologists’ quality reporting needs, but its future extends far beyond reporting,” said CAP President Qihui “Jim” Zhai, MD, FCAP. “This modernization positions the PQR as a long-term resource for the specialty, helping pathologists leverage data to improve patient care, advance research, and demonstrate the value of pathology.”

The CAP is now evolving the PQR into a broader clinical data platform that will support member advocacy, innovative interoperability approaches, quality improvement, research, and other uses of evidence-based clinical data while maintaining its core quality reporting capabilities.

The PQR is a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services-recognized Qualified Clinical Data Registry that supports quality reporting and performance benchmarking for pathologists and pathology practices. It currently supports more than 1,700 pathologists across 130 practice sites.

Current PQR participants will continue using the existing platform for 2026 reporting while the new platform is being developed and launched. Historical and current PQR data will be securely preserved, and the CAP will provide additional information about 2027 reporting as the transition progresses.
