Akron Children’s Earns College of American Pathologists Accreditation

Akron Children’s has been awarded accreditation by the CAP’s Accreditation Committee, based on the results of a recent on-site inspection. Akron Children’s now joins more than 8,000 CAP-accredited laboratories worldwide.

CAP accreditation is designed to elevate laboratory quality and reduce risk, helping laboratories contribute directly to improved patient outcomes. During the accreditation process , CAP inspectors conduct a rigorous, peer-based review of a laboratory’s records and quality control procedures to confirm the lab meets the highest standards in the industry.

“Every test result plays an important role in a child’s diagnosis and treatment,” said Dr. Jennifer Baccon, chair of Akron Children’s pathology lab. “CAP accreditation demonstrates that our laboratory meets the highest standards and gives families and providers confidence that they can rely on the results we deliver.”
