Chicago and DuPage County health officials are urging people who may have been exposed to measles to watch for symptoms after what officials describe as a rare breakthrough case involving a vaccinated DuPage County resident.

Health officials are encouraging anyone who may have been at the airport during that time to monitor for symptoms and know what steps to take if they become ill.

Call ahead so they can establish some isolation protocols,” said Constantine Kanakis, MD, MSc, FCAP, a clinical pathologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
