The Main Hospital Laboratory at King Salman bin Abdulaziz Medical City (KSAMC) in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, has earned accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP), joining more than 8,000 CAP-accredited laboratories worldwide.
The accreditation followed a comprehensive, on-site evaluation conducted by a team of CAP inspectors and laboratory experts. Reviewers examined the lab’s operational systems, quality procedures, staff competency, and the accuracy of laboratory results, and confirmed the lab’s implementation of leading global practices in safety, risk management, and quality control.
CAP accreditation is peer-based, meaning practicing laboratory professionals conduct the on-site inspections using the CAP’s rigorous, discipline-specific checklists — widely regarded as the gold standard in laboratory medicine. For KSAMC, the achievement reflects the hospital’s ongoing commitment to advancing its diagnostic services in line with the highest international standards, and supports enhanced patient safety, more reliable lab results, and stronger evidence-based clinical decision-making.
