Northfield, Ill. (August 19, 2026) — The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL), in collaboration with the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and the College of American Pathologists (CAP), has published the Biosafety Preparedness for Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers document.

This resource is designed to help laboratories prepare for and safely handle specimens from patients under investigation for viral hemorrhagic fevers, including Ebola disease. The document provides key biosafety considerations to support laboratory readiness and response efforts.
