Microscopy With UV-Surface Excitation (MUSE) For Fast, Non-Destructive, Slide-Free Pathology

Apr 19, 2018

Traditional histopathology can be slow, expensive, and destructive, and it is not always available. Exciting new technologies such as MUSE (microscopy with UV-surface excitation) offer diagnostic-quality, full-color images from unsectioned tissue within minutes. Sample-preserving MUSE imaging of small, unfixed biopsy specimens can increase analyze yield vs. FFPE-processed samples, and facilitate quick and affordable precision medicine.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand new technologies, including MUSE, for non-traditional histology
  • Appreciate the ability of MUSE microscopy to emulate and extend conventional histology images
  • Explore how the practice of pathology may change with the availability of slide-free tissue diagnostics
