Some Rules are made to be broken (in Pandemics and Disasters)

Oct 21, 2021

Description

The COVID-19 Pandemic has challenged our laboratories and all of our assumptions about how we function. It has forced reassessment of the standard management practices and processes of laboratories, pathology, leadership and management in ways that have promoted new thinking, new discoveries about how to adapt, and even new ways of doing things. In an (over)regulated industry such as ours, knowing when to be flexible with established rules and which one(s) to bend when facing a crisis is in and by itself a great attribute of leadership. Reflection on the last year can help us define what rules of lab management are immutable, and what rules are made to be broken.
