Adam L. Booth, MD, FCAP

The College of American Pathologists presents Adam L. Booth, MD, FCAP, with the CAP Resident Advocate Award in recognition of his unwavering support of the Residents Forum (RF) and his service to pathology and advocacy.

Dr. Booth has served as a leader and mentor for trainees since starting his pathology residency, serving as a chief resident of his program and developing multiple award-winning projects to facilitate pathologist and patient-facing clinical workflow. Dr. Booth has led the way in medical student engagement and resident advocacy and has been a prime example of how the CAP can open doors and foster the next generation of pathologists. His service to the CAP as the RF Chair for two consecutive terms helped to establish the RF as the “home base” for medical student members, and his legacy continues with the service the RF provides today.

At the start of the pandemic, Dr. Booth and colleagues recognized the need for supplemental training for residents stuck at home and developed the CAP’s Virtual Lecture Series, bringing the expertise of pathologists to trainees around the world in a time of uncertainty. He continues to champion the value of social communities and the connections they can bring to residents and students. Dr. Booth has a continued presence as a leader at the CAP and can always be counted on to participate and serve as a role model.

Dr. Booth completed his medical school training at Ross University School of Medicine, followed by an AP/CP residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He then completed a fellowship in GI/liver pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, before joining the faculty of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

Dr. Booth is an assistant professor of pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago.
