2019 Fall House of Delegates and Residents Forum Meetings and Events at CAP19
Gaylord Palms, Orlando, FL
Join us Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando for our Fall 2019 House of Delegates (HOD) and Residents Forum (RF) and meetings. We kick things off with a joint breakfast from 7:00 AM - 8:15 AM. At 12:00 PM, the HOD and RF will enjoy lunch together, sponsored by PathPac. Each group will meet separately from 8:45 AM - 3:30 PM.
House of Delegates Meeting
The House of Delegates meeting isn’t limited to elected delegates—all CAP Fellows can attend. The HOD is the voice of the membership; meeting attendees connect with leaders and shape the specialty’s position on key issues. Our Fall meeting will tackle tough topics including how to strengthen the specialty at state and local levels. You’ll also gain a good overview of the CAP’s advocacy activities and a new understanding of select hot topics.
Residents Forum Meeting
- Town Hall Session – your voice will be heard as you share your feedback as to how CAP can meet your personal and professional needs
- Digital Pathology – learn the many interesting facets of digital pathology from an industry expert.
- Professional Etiquette – set yourself apart from the crow by enhancing your professional demeanor.
- Job Market Update – get the latest pathology job market statistics to help in educated decision making.
RF Events at CAP19
The Residents Forum Executive Committee (RFEC) will recognize pathology’s visual prowess with the first Residents Forum photography contest.
All CAP resident members are invited to share their most artistic images and join us at the Fall Residents Forum (RF) meeting, September 21, 2019 at Orlando, Florida, to see the “best in show.” Enter up to two images from your microscopic world or the world at large using either a light microscope or a conventional camera.
The RFEC will select the top 10 finalists for display at the meeting. Resident attendees will then vote and the top three images will be sold to attendees in a silent auction. The top three artists will receive a gift card. All proceeds will be donated to the CAP Foundation.

2:00 – 4:00 PM CAP Medical Librarian Resources CAP medical library staff will be available to consult with you on critical topics such as CV review/improvement, manuscript development, professional bio-sketch preparation and research assistance. Please take advantage of this opportunity to learn from the experts!
Monday, September 24, 1:00 – 4:00 PM, Lounge Re-opens 5:30 – 7:30 PM
3:00–4:00 PM VIP Networking Reception Meet Pathology VIPs in a relaxing setting while enjoying networking opportunities. Beer and wine served during reception.
5:30-7:30PM Career Fair Learn more about current job openings from employers who are seeking candidates at the career fair event. Speakers from Chicago’s top pathology programs and CAP leadership will share their career advice. Bear, wine and light hors d'oeuvres will be served.
Tuesday, September 25, 1:00 – 4:00 PM
1:00 – 2:00 PM Medical Research Grant Writing Session Participate in a presentation and/ or a personal consultation with the experts on proposal writing, persuading grant reviewers and/ or medical research grant writing.
Prepare yourself for finding the right fellowship as you meet with representatives from fellowship programs across the country. Visit programs Sunday, September 22 from 9:30 AM -11:30 AM in the Exhibit Hall.
Special Member Events at CAP19
Meeting of the Membership and Presidential Inauguration
Saturday, September 21, 3:45 PM – 4:45 PM
All members are invited to this opening session where colleagues connect, network, and learn the latest from CAP leadership. Hear the CEO’s perspective on CAP performance, gain a progress report from the CAP President, and learn which priorities will top the CAP agenda as our President-Elect, Patrick E.T. Godbey, MD, FCAP is inaugurated to a two-year term. Newly elected Governors to the CAP Board will also be sworn in.
Meritorious Service Awards Luncheon

Honoring winners of our 2019 Meritorious Service Awards, this CAP-hosted luncheon will feature insights from pathology leaders as we salute our best, brightest, and dedicated members.
