2025 CAP Junior Member of the Year Award

Established in 2010, the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Junior Member of the Year Award recognizes a Junior Member who has made outstanding contributions to pathologists, laboratory medicine, the specialty of pathology, and/or the public.

Meredith K. Herman, DO 

The College of American Pathologists presents Meredith K. Herman, DO, with the 2025 CAP Junior Member of the Year Award to recognize her commitment to mentoring and support in shaping the future of pathology education.  

Dr. Herman is a resident at the University of Michigan and is widely recognized for her role in establishing MatchtoPath.com, a comprehensive, free, and accessible online resource designed to help students navigate the pathology residency application process while offering equitable access to information and mentorship across the country. Through this platform and her vibrant online presence, she has become a trusted voice in medical education, particularly for students underrepresented in medicine or at institutions with limited exposure to pathology

Her warm, heartfelt approach to mentorship has fostered a sense of belonging among students. The meaningful connections she’s made among students, peers, and practicing pathologists have strengthened the networks that are essential for professional growth and the pathology community.  

Dr. Herman also serves on the CAP Digital and Computational Pathology Committee, where she contributes to the advancement of digital tools and innovation within the field, helping shape the future of diagnostic practice and education.

Through her advocacy, creativity, and collaborative spirit, Dr. Herman exemplifies the values of the CAP and continues to inspire a new generation of leaders in pathology.

Dr. Herman is an anatomic and clinical pathology resident at the University of Michigan and is interested in a cytopathology fellowship.
