Twitter Chat Wrap-Up: #Pathologists & The CURES Act

On April 5 at 8pm CT/9pm EST, I took over the CAP Twitter account (@Pathologists) to host a #capchat discussion on pathologists and the CURES Act, which went into effect that day. This legislation aims to ensure that patients have timely access to their health information. The rule requires all physicians to make their office notes, laboratory results, and other diagnostic reports available to patients as soon as the physician’s office receives an electronic copy. I was joined on the chat by Sue Chang, MD, FCAP (@SueChangMD); Yael Heher, MD, FCAP (@yaelheher); and CAP Advocacy (@capdcadvocacy).

Below are some highlights from the hour-long discussion.

Michael J. Misialek, MD, FCAP
Michael J. Misialek, MD, FCAP, is associate chair of pathology at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Massachusetts. Dr. Misialek is a strong advocate for the recognition of pathologists in patient care and an early adopter of patient consults.
